Outdoor code for athletes in nature

During our events, we enjoy using the beautiful surroundings and nature that Venlo has to offer. And so all walkers, cyclists, anglers, runners, mountain bikers and horse riders make use of nature, each in their own way.

In order to protect nature and ensure that we can all continue to enjoy nature, there is "The Outdoor Code", which we at Stichting Venloop strive to emulate. This code consists of 5 simple rules:

  1. Respect nature
  2. Don't make noise and take your rubbish with you.
  3. Stick to the access rules
  4. Check the access signs and stay on your designated paths.
  5. Give each other space
  6. Make room for others and slow down when it is busy.
  7. Be friendly
  8. Greet one another in a friendly manner and show understanding for other people's experience of nature.
  9. Speak to each other
  10. Speak to another in a friendly and respectful manner about his or her behaviour.

Space for each other, a sporty gesture!

The Outdoor Code is a joint initiative of Natuurmonumenten, Staatsbosbeheer, LandschappenNL, Atletiekunie, KNHS, KWbN, Wandelnet, Sportvisserij Nederland and cycling federation NTFU.
