Weir Venloop moved to Wednesday 23 to 27 March 202223 | 07 | 21
Venlo - Stichting Venloop has decided to move the Weir Venloop 2021, which was previously moved from March 2021 to September 2021, once again, and this time to 23 to 27 March 2022.
The developments in recent weeks regarding the coronavirus mean that Stichting Venloop does not see sufficient prospect of relaxing all the measures still in place, including the 1.5 metre measure.
Chairman Erik Schnock explains the choice of Stichting Venloop: "As organizers, we indicated earlier that the Venloop can only continue if there are no more restrictive measures. Testing for access is not an option for our event, because it is not a closed event site. The 1.5 metre measure is also still an obstacle at the moment. Things were going in the right direction for a while, but a fortnight ago events were banned again. Recently, the Netherlands went "red" again, which means that the next step in the opening plan will be postponed again and there may even be additional measures instead. We have come to this decision in close consultation with the municipality. The health of our participants, public and volunteers always comes first."
The date will now be 23 to 27 March 2022. The Neptune Walking Tour will then take place on Saturday 26 March and the Weir Venloop running races on Sunday 27 March.
