Tip for an active day: start the day with a high-protein breakfast!

Proteins are the building blocks of your body. They ensure a long-lasting feeling of satiety throughout the day, making you less likely to snack. They keep your blood sugar level up, so you are more concentrated during the day. And proteins ensure that your muscles recover faster after an active day.

Proteins can be divided into vegetal and animal proteins. Vegetal proteins can be found in nuts, legumes, vegetables and grains such as quinoa and oatmeal. Animal proteins are mainly found in fish, chicken, meat, dairy products and eggs. 

According to the Voedingscentrum, we need about 0.8 grams of protein per kilo of body weight per day.  By starting the day with a high-protein breakfast, you can get a head start on your daily protein intake!

Recipes for a high-protein breakfast

Are you someone who takes time for breakfast, or do you find yourself in a hurry every morning and barely have time to eat something? With these high-protein breakfast tips, everyone can start the day with a head start on their recommended daily intake of protein:

  • Whole-wheat toast with cottage cheese and salmon
    A well-known player in the world of proteins is, of course, cottage cheese. Spread a couple of spoonfuls over a whole-wheat sandwich, season with pepper, salt and olive oil, and top with avocado and/or salmon. Made in a jiffy and insanely delicious! 
  • Banana pancakes with peanut butter
    If you have a sweet tooth, try this recipe for banana pancakes. Mash up 1 ripe banana and mix it with 2 eggs. Flavour the mixture with cinnamon. Fry in coconut oil and serve with a spoonful of quark, fresh fruit and peanut butter!
  • Brinta shake
    Are you short of time every morning? Then go for a super fast brinta shake. Mix milk and Brinta in a take-away cup and drink it on the go. Healthy, nutritious and fast! Extra tasty when you mix it up with some mashed raspberries.
